California Health Savings Accounts

Opening a Personal Health Savings Account
While Blue Shield is not a financial institution and does not provide tax advice or HSAs, we have a relationship with Wells Fargo, a company that offers these accounts.

Wells Fargo is:
  • The only 'AAA-rated' bank (Moody’s highest credit rating) in the United States.
  • A provider of health care spending accounts since 1987.
  • One of the first companies to offer HSAs when they became available in 2004.

Learn more about Wells Fargo's HSA accounts at www.wellsfargo.com/hsa.

While we have a standing relationship with Wells Fargo, members interested in opening an HSA may do so at the bank or with the HSA administrator of their choice.
